Mindset tips for anxiety that I use:
Here is a good technique that I keep practicing for the improvement of my cognitive functions and thought patterns when anxiety hits me and thoughts of “staying in my comfort zone” come up… A thought pops up in my head and I know it is not the truest or logical so I ask myself:
What is the worst that can happen?
What are the chances that the worst happens? Can I control the outcome of this situation? What I can I do in order to be prepared?
Do I know this to be true?
What else have I handled that is similar to this?
In new situations, when else have I proven to myself that I can learn and adapt quickly?
It takes practice to make this type of self-talk become second nature.
This is a form of CBT that I use on myself and I am including this further information in the hopes that it may inspire you as well if you deal with similar things.
What is CBT?
Cognitive-behavioral therapy.
From apa.org:
“CBT treatment usually involves efforts to change thinking patterns. These strategies might include:
Learning to recognize one’s distortions in thinking that are creating problems, and then reevaluate them in light of reality. Gaining a better understanding of the behavior and motivation of others. Using problem-solving skills to cope with difficult situations. Learning to develop a greater sense of confidence in one’s own abilities.”
I hope this inspires you to take control of your self-talk.
